**Harmonization of Drug concepts**

**Proposal**

This proposal does not involve a change to the CDM schema. 

The idea is to make all ATC codes standard concepts. (change in OHDSI Vocabulary)

**Background**

EMR data contains concepts with Drug class information such as:

ICD9CM concepts:

V58.1	Encounter for antineoplastic chemotherapy and immunotherapy\\ 
V58.11	Encounter for antineoplastic chemotherapy\\ 
V58.12	Encounter for antineoplastic immunotherapy\\ 
V58.61	Long-term (current) use of anticoagulants\\ 
V58.62	Long-term (current) use of antibiotics\\ 
V58.63	Long-term (current) use of antiplatelet/antithrombotic\\ 
V58.64	Long-term (current) use of non-steroidal anti-inflammatories (NSAID)\\ 
V58.65	Long-term (current) use of steroids\\ 
V58.68	Long term (current) use of bisphosphonates\\ 
and other concepts.

We need to make a mapping to Drug-concepts but now we don't have any possibility to do this because standard drug concepts don't include drug classes.

Thus possible solution of this problem is to make ATC concepts standard and make mappings to them.
