Mini studyathon Sept 8th 2021- Characterising populations undergoing surgery for wrist arthritis and their outcomes

This event is running as a pre-meeting research day as a part of the BSSH (British Society for Surgery of the Hand) meeting in Oxford, and plans to develop an OHDSI characterisation study to run in European evening/ North American afternoon of Sept 8th.

The day has 3 components- a systematic review, a study focussed upon PROMs, and then the OHDSI characterisation. It is running with predominantly surgical participants in a face to face event, and plans to develop phenotypes for serious adverse events after surgery for future research. Talks from the head statistical reviewer and editor of the 2 main hand surgical journals are also planned in the day to spark debate about open science and collaborative events in surgical research. More details of the day can be found here (BSSH Autumn Scientific Meeting 2021 | The British Society for Surgery of the Hand in the pre-meeting tab) and in GitHub (GitHub – oxford-pharmacoepi/BSSHStudyathon2021: An international study of surgery for wrist arthritis) After the event we’ll be running the lectures for others to view, but if anyone would like to participate in the OHDSI study, especially as a data partner or data scientist please reach out to Jenny Lane (Jennifer.lane@ndorms.ox.ac.uk)
