The foundation of OHDSI’s mission is the OMOP Common Data Model, which harmonizes disparate observational health data to enable reproducible, reliable evidence generation worldwide. What began as a collaborative effort across a handful of institutions has expanded into a truly international standard, with 1.01 billion person records from more than 650 databases mapped across nearly 130 countries. This global footprint reflects not only the widespread adoption of the OMOP CDM, but also the dedication of a worldwide community working to break down data silos and improve patient care across every corner of the globe.
True generalizability in health research demands diverse global perspectives; capturing heterogeneous patient populations, practice variations, and health systems across continents is essential to generating evidence that can be trusted everywhere. As our international network continues to expand, each new database integrated into the OMOP ecosystem strengthens our collective ability to answer pressing clinical questions with unprecedented depth and confidence.
