Xiaochun Li, PhD
Associate Professor
Indiana University School of Medicine

Xiaochun Li is an associate professor of the Biostatistics Department in Indiana University School of Medicine and in Richard M. Fairbanks School of Public Health. She is a biostatistician with doctoral training in statistics from University of British Columbia, Canada. Since joining Indiana University School of Medicine (IUSM) and Regenstrief Institute, the central theme of her work has been assessing the comparative safety and effectiveness of medications, as well as identification of patient subpopulations for personalized medicine. An important part of this is developing, adapting and testing new or existing methods to improve validity of comparative research and personalized medicine using longitudinal health care data (either claims and/or clinical databases) that reflect routine care. She has served the project lead and co-lead of foundation and industry funded projects on statistical methodology of confounding control in pharmacoepidemiology studies using electronic health records. In addition, she also has years of experience in data mining in genomic studies such as comparing drug effectiveness on certain biomarkers and correlating changes in biomarkers in patient’s outcomes, more than 10 years of experience in clinical trials, and strong statistical computational skills. Her other interests include statistical computing, non- and semi-parametric regression, clinical trials and bioinformatics.
